Dr. Gerry Segal

 

Dr. Gerry Segal received the BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida, Master of Commercial Science from Rollins College, and Ph.D. in Management from Virginia Commonwealth University.  His entrepreneurial experience began when he started a commercial real estate brokerage and property management firm in Atlanta.  Later, he founded leading‑edge grocery stores featuring natural and organic foods in Ft. Collins, Co and Eugene, OR.  Currently an Assistant Professor of Management at Florida Gulf Coast University, Dr. Segal’s teaching and research interest is in the area of entrepreneurship and small business management.

 

During the 1980's, Gerry ran a macrobiotic study house in Boston, while studying natural foods cooking and oriental medicine at Kushi Institute.  He has three sons, ages 12, 16 and 23 and two step-daughters, ages 8 and 20.  The children were born at home with midwives, never vaccinated, and almost never go to doctors (relying instead on herbal and homeopathic medicine).  His family eats a semi-vegan diet, always avoiding meat and eggs and usually avoiding dairy products.
