OK- now I'm begging- last call
for this beautiful rotty boy! I asked David today for one last extension and he
gave me today and tomorrow only. So I decided while there today I would say my
goodbye to him since I knew it would be the last time I see him before he was
put down. I decided to take him out to walk around outside, enjoy the warm sun.
And I did really good for the first 5-10 minutes, then I decided to sit in a
chair out there and just pet him, tell him in my own way that I was sorry for
letting him down, and he stuck his head in my lap and just looked up at me with
those big brown eyes and I melted. I sat there holding him and sobbing like a
baby, not caring what anyone thought because I seemed to be the only one who
knew what a great dog I had in my arms. I felt a horrible doom by putting him
back in that cage, an action he even resisted as if he knew his own fate. I
share this with you first because I'm so very desperate for someone to ! want to
rescue this angel but secondly because those of us that go to the shelter often
know the heartbreak that comes with it and I honestly needed to vent to someone
who understands.
If you have any room in your
rescue please help this boy- he's so very calm, not aggressive at all, a sort of
peaceful dog (sounds corny but he is)-only about 2-4 years old - he just wants
to be taken out of there and be loved. He has easily cured demo mange so his
coat needs some TLC but once that's cured and he gains a little weight he'll be
perfectly handsome and I just know he'll get adopted so a family as special as
he is.

We are volunteers and all have regular jobs in addition to doing rescue. So we
prefer to email rather than return phone calls, as we can fit this in during our
lunch hours, breaks, and late at night. Thanks for understanding! We also
DESPERATELY need foster homes, as do all shelters. In 2002 in Brevard County,
FL, an average of 500+ cats and 200+ dogs were killed PER MONTH due to
overpopulation. Please spay and neuter, and really go the extra mile -- spay and
neuter your "neighborhood strays" (call or email us for low-cost vaccine and
clinic info). Thanks! =^..^=

Hi all!
Here are pics of Pollie, the Senegal Parrot that needs a home. Looks like Karla
(her owner) may have to leave sooner than she thought - got a good job offer in
Rhode Island. We are looking at mid-May now.
I personally met Pollie the other day, and she did let me scratch her head a few
times. She made no attempt to bite me!
Pollie is 12 years old, and she prefers males to females. She loves to be out
in the lanai getting fresh air.
The big cage you see in the pics comes with her - but sorry, the cat does not!
Pollie gives kisses to "Meow" and "Meow" gives them back to Pollie!
She is a beautiful bird, and although I am not bird saavy in the least, she
seems like a good girl! She does have a pretty good vocabulary, although she
did not talk while I was at her home.
Karla would like her to go to a very good home - one that will understand her
"Senegal" ways! Please contact Karla directly at 458-3754 (home) or 645-7997
(cell). Thanks, Karen

ADOPTED!!
This is a picture of Sophie the parakeet.
Sophie is one of Graham and Lauren's companion animal. They are looking
for
a good home for her, as she does not get along very well with their
other birds. She is a lovely little bird, and they are hoping that they
can find someone who would like to care for her. If you or anyone you know is
interested please e-mail Graham at
