Volunteer Opportunities

** = Service Learning Hours Available to FGCU students

For the Animal Refuge Center:

** Sat. Sept.10th to take dogs to Bark Avenue on McGregor for their customer appreciation day.  Good opportunity for adoptions which Judith will handle or at least take applications. It would be from 10 to 3 p.m so we need pick up at ARC at about 9 or 9:15. Other people will be bringing their dogs and dogs will be getting baths for donations hopefully to us.

** Need help with bringing one or two pets to visit at an assisted living facility in Cape Coral on Sept. 14th. This would not be an adoption day unfortunately. Just an hour visit anytime during 1 to 4 pm.

Please e-mail Lisa Petruska if interested in any of these opportunities and/or to be put on the volunteer list at lpetruska@yahoo.com.

A woman by the name of Debra Adams in Arcadia has lost the land she has been renting and her court orders are to leave this week. She had 58 cats and 25 dogs and has been contacted by a woman in Palm City that 10 cats can go to her home but she can't transport.

If anyone can go to Arcadia to pick up 10 cats and drive them to Palm Bay (just north of Ft Pierce, Fl)City please call Debra Adams directly at 954-410-9046..

ARC has already taken in some of the cats & dogs and this woman in Palm Bay has already taken 25.....she is willing to take another 10.

If these 10 can be transported that is 10 that Debra does not have to surrender to Animal Control. She is trying to move as many as she can into a trailer but obviously she can't fit many. She is taking the older ones and ones with medical problems in the hopes the others can be absorbed into homes or other sanctuaries.

Again call Debra's directly and ASAP (she has maybe 3 days) ph # is : 954-410-9046.
